Trafomec S.p.A. is a joint stock company founded in June 1980 by a group of engineers with 25 years of experience in the specific field all over Europe. It started its production in 1981 and the present workshops take up 10,000 square meters on a total area of about 50.000 square meters.

In 1990 Trafomec founded Eurotrafo, which is responsible of the production of design facilities as Trafomec. This plant is working autonomously since 1993 and produces magnetic components up to 100 kVA. This factory is housed in a 3.000 square meters facility on a total area of about 15.000 square meters.

In January 1997 Trafomec established Trafofluid,  responsible of the production of water-cooled transformers used in the resistance welding. (Automotive robots and stationary machines).

In September 1999 Trafomec became the major shareholder of the Swiss Company Imel Energy which produces magnetic components, with the aim of specialising it for small series with the highest reactivity all over Europe.

Till 2000 the total investments of Trafomec Group were approximately 20 million Euro, with a work force of about 320 people. In June 2002 a further new factory in PRC was opened: Trafomec Shanghai UPS Magnetics. Imel Poland, on September 2005, started the manufacturing of LV components.
